We got to the airport only to find they had changed our flight to 1pm instead of 11am. Amazonas airline have a reputation of just cancelling flights or moving passengers on to other flights so a 2hr delay wasn't too bad. The airport café also had wifi and so we were able to catch up on a few emails. We knew the plane was going to be small as it only carried 18 people but we weren’t prepared for quite how small it was. I had to crawl to my seat on my hands and knees as there was no room to stand up! The cockpit was open so we were able to see the pilots and could hear everything go beep which was slightly disconcerting. The actual flight wasn’t too bad until we came down to land in Rurrenabaque and then the flight resembled a rollercoaster, dipping and diving all over the shop. I took a picture of the pilots as I got off and one warned me that we were going to die due to the heat which was nice. He was right though it was considerably warmer than La Paz and also very humid but we were in jungle territory.

We had got given a free nights accommodation in Hostel Beni from the agency we booked our tour through and when we arrived we thought it was a bit of a dive. It might not have been so bad at the back of the hostel but we were right at the front and there was no glass in the windows just mossie netting and so we could hear all the street noise. Also we couldn’t find the switch to turn the fan on so we spent a very hot noisy night and neither of us slept.
