Gary's still congested so we took it easy again today. After a leisurely breakfast, we took the train to Vernazza and poked around. Mostly we just sat by the harbor and watched the day unfold.

I had the best time watching Italian grandparents and parents interacting with their grandchildren/children. You could tell they loved them to pieces. A grandfather carried his infant grandson around, telling him what the word for everything was..."la barca; il gato." A grandmother walked down the street, her grandson in tow, and all of the shopkeepers called out to them and ran over to hug him. It was heartwarming and sweet to see.

Anyway...unfortunately, we bought the world's worst piece of pizza for lunch. It was soggy, limp and flavorless. That forced us to get a gelato to wash the bad flavor out of our mouth. :-)

After strolling about for awhile, we sat on some rocks and soaked our feet in the harbor and watched people swim and sunbathe. Then, back to Monterossa so that Gary could take a nap and I read for awhile on our balcony.

Once Gary woke up, we ambled over to the train station to see when the train to Santa Margharita runs tomorrow. (That's tomorrow's excursion!)...then had an aperitif at Nuevo Eden and a nice dinner at La Carugia (delicious!).

Now to bed. We're both quite tired...and just a little sad that the end to our fabulous trip is in sight.
