...this is what happened...
Why Loch Lomond? It is home to an outlet village which has a shop in it that apparently caters to my mums teeny tiny feet - not why most tourists would go there, but this is why we were going, as locals!
What happened? Well, we left my parents house for our day trip after 4pm...due to a multitude of reasons. There was no way we'd make any shops now, but still...the car drove us in that direction...
But Oban? "Fancy goin' tae Oban" = my dad. I didn't realise how far it was, but basically we got there about 7pm (partly due to a road traffic accident on a country road) So that is how we ended up in Oban.
We saw a nice restaurant (The Waterfront), but it was really busy and there were no seats available. Guess it must have been good!
We went to one next door instead (Rascals), which was very quiet in comparison. One of the waitresses came out of the back, and walked past us, not even acknowledging we were there. That got my back up straight away - she was so close she could have touched us, yet nothing...! Another girl appeared and said she'd be with us in a minute, and proceeded to go and chat to someone else working there - plus there were a few other waitresses doing nothing. We were not impressed so we left.
Third time lucky, we found a reasonably priced hotel and ate there.
By this point my dad was thinking about the long drive back, and lack of beer in his hand (well - it was his suggestion...!) So my mum suggested finding out how much it was to stay a night in the hotel. At £120 a night each, my dad supped on his shandy happily, and drove us home later - we got home about midnight.
