My friend Pedro from Brazil also loved the fact that things are so old in Scotland in comparison. So when we went to Largs, he was impressed by the culture....and the vikings!
Largs is a lovely seaside town, and a traditional place for a daytrip on the west coast of Scotland. Lots of cafes and seaside funfair action, plus you can also take a ferry boat across the water to a little island referred to commonly as 'Millport', however that is actually the name of the main town, it is in fact the 'Isle of Cumbrae', to avoid any confusion! At the other side, there are buses taking you into the town of Millport, but the island is small enough to walk - that will take you about half an hour - just keep the sea on your left and you will find it! Once in Millport, you can hire a bicycle and cycle round the whole island - that takes about an hour if you don't stop, but the scenery is lovely, so you'll probably want to stop a few times!
