Motadina
In the Summer of 2010, I had the opportunity to travel to Egypt and meet Ibrahim Dakrori and his family. He runs an extensive ministry, MOTADINA (Ministry of Training and Discipleship in New Areas), which trains pastors, organizes leadership conferences and publishes Christian literature.   Through this work he is responsible for 100 churches throughout Egypt, both middle-sized churches and home churches. He does this with official authorization, but it is hard to run a Christian ministry in Egypt! Officially, about 10% of the population are Christians, however only a fraction of these are evangelicals. Christians receive no state funding; they experience discrimination and sometimes direct persecution. I was impressed by his leadership, devotion and proper management, together with the rest of his board. We were together for several days, and I visited two of these churches in poor areas of Cairo.

Children's Ministry
Another important part of the work is the aid to street children and poor families. They have 75 children in difficult situations, for example parents that are ill and without income, children born outside of marriage, children of divorced mothers etc. These children are catered for through food distributions, help to school-attendance, Christian teaching and loving care. A staff member from Motadina has special responsibility for the children’s work.  Families are also supplied with basic food such as rice, macaroni, oil, sugar, tea, etc. They have only two sponsors, and the locals try to meet the great needs with limited funds. Without more help they will not be able to continue meeting all these needs, and many children will lose out.  In Norway, we are in a privileged position; not only do we have everything we need, but just a few Norwegian kroner go a long way in Egypt.   TOGETHER, WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

What can we do?
I have opened an aid account, where those who wish can give either single amounts or regular monthly donations. The account number is at the top of this page. It costs kr.350 a month to support a child, and you will receive photos and information about your child straight away, along with reports now and then. If you would rather give a smaller amount, or you don’t wish to support a specific child, you are of course welcome to send what you want. EVERYONE WILL RECEIVE RECEIPTS FROM MOTADINA. In addition, you can ask for access to the account information at any time. It is cheaper to send a lump sum, rather than many small amounts, so I would ask that money is transferred by the 15th of each month, so that I see by then how much we have to send. Please register as a donor/sponsor by sending me an email (or ringing) with your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address and how much you want to give. Mark your registration "child sponser" if that is what you wish. I am travelling to Cairo again in March. I will then be able to deliver gifts, greetings, clothes etc, and to bring fresh reports and photos home. Ibrahim says that in addition, you are very welcome to visit the children and the ministry!
