Much as I love Fleur and Elroy I wish they'd never come up with this unholy idea.
Saturday is nearing and I'm the only one without a costume.
The more Peter and Mieke are getting into the spirit of things the more contrary I become.
And yes, I bought a pair of old-fashioned long cotton knickers. They're not bad really. No crotch, very handy - I can't imagine why they ever went out of fashion.
(Forget it, Alan, I point blank refuse to have my picture taken wearing those.)
Anyway, Fleur has taken to calling us up, under any pretext, but in reality to check how the costumes are progressing, handing us tips as to where we can rent some, as she obviously has no faith in our creative talents.
God give me strength - I have nothing against people having fun dressing up - just leave me out of it.
Well, for the moment that's all I wanted to say. Just letting off steam.
Of course I'll let you know the upshot of it all.
Expect a first-hand report of the event by Sunday, that is, if I haven't eloped with the knight in shining armour, who is bound to be there too.
