Journey: Granada, Lanjaron, Pampaniera to Granada Airport= 120 kms

Guess what, weather was fine and sunny and perfect for a trip to the mountains in our hire car which has been sitting on the street since we arrived in Granada.

We both had the idea at the same time to return the car to the Nixa depot at the airport a day early so our plan was to explore the Alpujarra hills and then drop the car off.

With our Gps we were soon in the gorgeous hills just out of Granada. Especially attractive are the little white villages hanging off the high hills and shimmering in the sunlight. The road was winding but not as treacherous as you might expect.

Our first stop was the town of Lanjaron, famous for its magic mineral water that is bottled and sold and also for the healing powers of its baths.

We had to get petrol here round $2 litre so its not cheap and with our strange Nixa contract we return the car empty because we have already paid  $85 for them to fill the  tank  on return! Buyer beware! We try to ration our purchases to avoid wasting money!

We reached our destination in time for beer and tapas for lunch and enjoyed the tiny streets and colourful shops and cafes.

The village is white and pretty and very hilly.

This was a lovely adventure!

A lovely day was slightly marred when we got to the Nixa depot and it was closed. To cut a long story short we eventually contacted the representative who told us to drop the keys with the service station and take the free shuttle to the airport which we did, after wasting an hour.

Needless to say we were happy to get rid of this car and the challenges the rental had given us.But have to say the car was pretty good with speed, petrol consumption and comfort!

We contacted Argus, our rental agent and insisted that we get a better deal on our next rental and they say the company is Europecar which hopefully will give us the car we need to keep the luggage out of sight; we have been in contact frequently with our requirements so let's hope!!

We hopped onto the airport bus to travel the 17 kms back to Granada with tomorrow our last day to enjoy this city!
