THURSDAY JUNE 3
Journey: Mambray Creek, Port Germaine, Port Pirie, Melrose
Mileage at Mambray: 16292 kms
Weather: 12 degrees at 8.30. sunny
We should have turned off at Port Germaine but just another 22 kms on/back to Port Pirie meant that we could get another stash of beestings to take with us. That we did- 10 of them!
and we saw another beesting fanatic, Brian whom we had met up with in Mambray, driving in as we drove out!!! Sheila had told him about the bakery and he was keen to try the delicacy. A beep of the horn and some frantic waving attracted his attention as we passed; we had a good laugh.
We had stopped at Port Germaine for breakfast and to view the longest jetty in australia with its odd water tractors to tow in the boats when the tide is way out! It was a massive structure.
Then it was full speed ahead to Melrose.
