WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 18 2009

NORAH HEAD via Hawks Nest

Mileage 7029

$28pn Norah Head Holiday Park

Sunny blue sky 28

Breakfast at Hawks Nest and using Tom Tom to navigate, we unexpectedly bypassed Newcastle on our way to Norah Head, another gorgeous surfing beach 45 minutes south of Newcastle.

After a bit of housework we walked the long beach fronting Wyrrabalong NP and marvelled at the beauty of this coast. There were lots of young people sunning and surfing, a regular beach hamburger shop and surf life saving club.

The waves crashed across the rocks below the white lighthouse on the headland and we acknowledged the "Aussieness" of this place on this perfect beach day!

Sheila pointed out the failed message “slip, slop, slap” for the new generations.

We cannot forget to mention the huge camp kitchen at the holiday park; all stainless steel fittings and a very effective cooker made preparing our evening curry a breeze. It was like a professional kitchen and we enjoyed the experience.

the beach was totally deserted at 5am when Kath did her sunrise beach walk with camera!

this was a beautiful beach!!
