Well, this is all very surreal, isn't it? Boston is our last stop before jetting off to London. Our last stop. After six months of travelling, it's finally dawned on us that there's actually going to be an end to all this gallivanting. Lucky for us, we have the charming city of Boston and some local friends to distract us from the oncoming doom...

Our days are spent strolling the narrow cobbled streets, leafy squares, tree-lined avenues and historic buildings. It's weird after travelling through America to find a place with a proper age to its businesses and architecture. In California, if a restaurant has been running since the early 1970s, they put it on the front of the menu. While driving on the west coast, we made the mistake of thinking that every "Historic Town Centre" sign would lead us to quaint old village. Most of the time we'd find ourselves on a 1970's concrete strip. Not so Boston - with it's little shops, Victorian-era houses and centrally located uni campuses it could almost be a European city.

But while Boston has enough charms of its own, the highlight of our time was Walsh family, without whom Per and I would have barricaded ourselves into our Hyatt room and cried ourselves unconscious. Thankfully, the Walshes took it upon themselves to distract us from the ever-looming depression by plying Per with ale and me with ice-cream and fajitas... or burritos. We never did work out the difference between the two. Either way it was delicious and their cunning worked. Our time in Boston has flown by and now we find ourselves about to board the plane home. Not sure quite how this happened. Where has the past six months gone? What will it be like back in London?

So this is it. Goodbye friends, colleagues, family. Or should I say "hello" - because we'll be seeing you soon. Anyhoo, thanks for reading and remember to stop by next time for "Kath and Per's Grand Adventure 2." ;)

Aren't burritos donkeys? Anyway, I want to propose a vote of thanks to Katherine and Per for all the laughs and all the interesting places - we've really enjoyed it. xx
