Monday 24th Sept

Woke up early this morning, had some nice breaky, blogged, packed up and waited to get picked up by the shuttle that was to take me from my Prague hostel to my Cesky Krumlov hostel. After the 2.5hr drive in a van with 6 aussie oldies I made it to the hostel and checked in.  It was a nice hostel with a cute common area and best part, no bunk beds!  After sorting my stuff I went for a wander through the gorgeous old town. Cesky Krumlov is a little medieval town in the south of the Czech Republic and consists of an old old town surrounded by a flowing river and with a big castle on the hill over the river.  After strolling through the town where I got a traditional rolled bread thing (see the pic) and a crepe for lunch, I headed back to the hostel where I did some blogging and sorting and organising.  I stayed in the hostel for quite a while, during which time the rest of my room got filled up with a bunch of aussies.  I decided to join them for dinner and we all went out to a traditional Czech restaurant where I got a 'medieval bohemian feast' of rabbit, potato, bread dumplings, ham slabs, sourcroute and more, as well as the local beer.  After dinner we went to one of the few pubs in the town where we had a beer, and moved on to another which had some locals with strange haircuts in it.  Here we had beer and baileys as these were pretty much the only drinks available since there is currently an alcohol ban on anything over 20%.  This is due to a huge number of deaths and cases of blindness resulting from alcohol sold in bars and stores where someone has managed to put homemade moonshine into the normal spirits.  Scary, and good that they're not selling it, but also annoying that it happened coz it makes the whole country nightlife pretty quiet.  Anyway, after a baileys or two we headed back in the rain to the hostel to bed.

Tuesday 25th Sept

Today was a late start after a sleep in, shower, cooking breaky, reading, blogging, skyping, sorting and organising.  At midday I decided it was time to go out and enjoy the beautiful day.  The others in my room had just come back from a run (weirdos lol) and so we all went out to get some lunch,  We went to a restaurant on the river in the sun which was so nice.  For lunch I had a traditional meal of beef and bread dumplings and cranberry with cream which was nice.  After lunch and basking in the sun, we all went to explore the big castle where we walked over the 'moat' which had real bears in it (weird and a bit sad for the bears but interesting to see), through the many little courtyards, along the viewpoints over the gorgeous town, and through the manicured gardens. After the castle we made our way back through the town and back to the hostel.  Here I did yet again more blogging and sorting and such, and we all played a game of hearts which was fun as I hadn't played it except on the computer back in highschool days (but still came second, yay).  We then all went out for dinner at a nice Italian place where I had a huuuge pizza and were entertained watching one of the other guys trying to finish two of them! After dinner it was back to the hostel to bed.

Wednesday 26th Sept

Woke up early today to shower, pack and check out in time.  I then spent the rest of the morning cooking breaky and skyping.  The afternoon was then spent getting lunch, wandering the city and then doing more blogging, sorting and organising.  It was then time to get my shuttle from the hostel to my hostel in Salzburg, Austria.  The trip took about 2 hours and I then checked into my hostel and settled in.  For dinner I went down to a local restaurant where I had a traditional (huge lot) of schnitzel with potatoes and salad yum yum! After dinner I slowly rolled myself back to the hostel where I went to bed.
