My week in Turkey has sadly come to an end...I have had a brilliant time, and excitingly have discovered I have a new talent...sea kayaking!!  I think i was last in a kayak when i was about 15 and spent a lot of time trying to paddle around an island in Fiji only to continually go around in circles...which is why i haven't attempted kayaking in nearly 20 years..so I wasn't sure quite how sea kayaking would go, but it appears my broad shoulders have finally come into their own, they can paddle, and i can do it quite well and very quickly and i loved it!  Although my new found talent was very nearly extinguished when a large tourist boat got to close to the rocks and decided to start to reverse into me..much screaming from the people i could almost touch on the boat and frantic paddling by me and i managed to not end up fish food!

Anyway Saturday was sea kayaking day, went to a place about an hour from Kas called Kekova, loads of islands to paddle around, amazing scenery, an ancient sunken city, and beautiful turquoise water.  We kayaked for 10kms around the place, it was very hot again so great to be on the water all day, I loved it!

Thursday we went to Arycanda which was a city from Lycian times, amazing site stuck halfway up a hill, the city was known for its love of pleasure and merry making and its tendency to be in constant debt..they had wineries, theatre, shops, baths, running tracks..think I would have enjoyed living there!  Had lunch in a local home, beautiful food (actually all the food has been amazing here, so fresh, tasty, and loads of aubergines!) and there was a very cute baby goat that kept trying to eat us.  Wandered down a hill for a couple of hours after lunch, stinking hot again, amazing views...walking in high 30's, is really quite tough, I have been humming "mad dogs and Englishmen" quite a bit!

Had a free day Friday, I choose to have a little sleep in, then explore Kas a bit, loads of cute shops, its so nice to be in a town not swamped with bus tours and people with stickers following a woman with an umbrella.. Spent the afternoon snorkeling, nice boat trip, snorkeling was fun, however the coast is meant to be the best place for snorkeling in Turkey, think based in my experience that maybe Turkey isn't a top snorkeling destination...i tried to catch fish with my hands, couldn't.

Final day was Sunday, another walk in the midday sun, this time 12kms up to the mountains directly above Kas, amazing views, and loads of goats floating about, a turtle, 2 skinny cows and a dog, interesting wild life!  Had incredible pancakes for lunch, made by an old Turkish woman under a tree, they were stuffed with some sort of goats cheese and spring onion mixture..really good, tried a "refreshing yoghurt drink" which was literally yoghurt, salt and water, and bloody awful!

Had our final meal on a gullet boat anchored out in the Med, brilliant way to end the trip, loads more meze, and a bbq of the side of the boat.  Ended the evening with a bit of dancing, had a ball.  I think I will go on a holiday like this again, I was really lucky with my group, everyone got along really well and I haven't laughed so hard in ages, really good fun, and despite the extreme heat having a little activity to do each day was really great, and meant I could eat more...winner!

I was hoping to see a few of my favourite "Brits abroad" on Thompson fly flight home, sadly though I think most of them must be on a two week break as we had a whole new very tanned group of fellow travellers (although still in heels!), well most of them were impressively tanned apart from those with a complexion similar to Wayne Rooney who just looked a bit red and uncomfortable.
