Caught the second-slowest bus in all of SA to get here (Copacabana) from La Paz. Were solicited on the bus (ice-creams, food, clothing, etc.) and as soon as we got off the bus for accommodation. We took the accommodation after a half-hearted look in the lonely planet. Not bad. It cost us about A$3 per night... each, with breakfast included. And views of the lake, occasional hot water, and a canine chorus throughout the night - what a deal.
The next day we went to Isla del Sol (island of the sun) on the slowest boat in SA - we could have paddled faster. Walked from north to south visiting Inca ruins and sites along the way. Being able to walk around 5-600 year old ruins with no rules was a novelty. We stayed on the ridge (about 300m above the lake) at a nice little place with views. Again it was dirt cheap and clean.
Did you know:
Trucha (trout) from lake Titikaka is delicious. Also beer is good. But hard to pour at altitude.
