Last weekend we visited Delphi, which is a beautiful and historically impressive place. It's in the middle of a mountain range with the view of the sea in the distance so I felt like I was in Colorado. Until I saw the impressive ruins! A temple of Athena, the oracle, and the gymnasio. No big deal. The historical sites we saw formed a little town of their own, so it was awesome! It's crazy how much is preserved. It's really cool to see the sights where Greek mythology took place. We drove right past the crossroads where Oedipus killed his father in "Oedipus the King" by Sophocles. And we walked where so many Athenians did back in the day to receive help from the Oracle.

It can seem so far-fetched to me that this actually happened. These people seem so different from me. Yet how different are they? Maybe not so different. These people were simply searching for answers to their difficult questions. Should I go to war? Should I marry this person? Should I re-locate? Just like everyone else, they wanted something to believe in. They wanted someone to go to and ask advice. We all need others to lean on, and we all have problems in our lives that we need to deal with. Big decisions have to be made. What a better place to come than a place with so much natural beauty to offer. It's comforting for the soul.

It's also been fun doing group bonding activities lately! Last Friday I went to "Dr. Fish" and got a fish pedicure, which is where a bunch of tiny fish munch off the dead skin on your feet. It's a nasty concept, but it was hilarious! It just feels like vibration on your feet. After we got back from Delphi, we threw a surprise birthday party celebration for one of the girls. It was our last birthday to celebrate while studying abroad! We all made masks (she wanted a masquerade ball), made popcorn (which she loves), and surprised her with a chocolate cake and scarf she had wanted. The look on her face to see us all there was priceless! When she opened her scarf gift she screamed like no other! I've never seen someone so excited!!! :) The next night we had a talent show for our group. Clearly we had limited props, so we all had to get really creative! Every apartment did a skit or dance for the group. Our apartment choreographed a dance to a Greek song called "Feta". It was really entertaining!!

I'm really looking forward to this weekend. I'm not going anywhere! That may sound odd, but it'll be really nice to stay in Athens for a weekend. I still have a lot of exploring to do! 3 weeks from tomorrow I'll be home! I need to make the most of my remaining time abroad!!! Here it goes! :)
