We had breakfast at our hotel which we soon found out later was a huge rip off, but we didn't feel like seeking out a food source in our jet lagged stupor at that time. We then walked around the streets by our hotel and saw that there were many food stalls for dirt cheap which we will come back to another day.

Caught a can to take us to Kao San Road, which is the Las Vegas of Asia! You can get everything here! It was pretty quiet at this time (just before lunch) and we first went straight to a foot massage place right on the street. It wa around 3 dollars for half hour and it was so worth it! We think we will do this everyday! Walked around Kao San Road for awhile, booked ourselves a tour for the next day and then went for lunch on the street. A big plate of chicken Pad Thai is just over a dollar! Cool street but I am glad we aren't staying nearby as it is very loud and busy. And it's not even mighty time yet. The tuk tuk drivers are relentless and always trying to hassle you for them to drive uou somewhere. I have mastered the art of indifference and wave them away. Caught a cab to the Paragon shopping center where we were recommended to check out the food court. It was not a good as I thought it would be.

Went back to the hotel where I checked out this market area just outside. It was really interesting as this one seemed to be where all the locals shopped at. Bought a bag of Fanta ( they keep the bottle for a refund and pour the drink ina bag) and then walked back.

Included in our hotel room price was a free dinner. It was a huge buffet with nothing good. They had everything from seafood to French fries and sushi to spaghetti, but it was all awful.

Me and Alison went back to the market to explore and I bought a bag of crickets for around 75 cents. Had two crickets and called it a day! Didn't taste too bad as it had spices added to it, but they were quite big and took a while to chew.

One observation so far of Bangkok is that it is a city of extreme opposites. One minute it is very modern, and then you turn your head and see extreme poverty. Never felt unsafe here and my "guard" was never up.
