Arrived in Munich on time with no problems. Checked my passport and was greeted by "frau Buechler". She pronounced it correctly of course. Even I can't pronounce my name properly. Not enough phlegm buildup! She actually gave me a lecture on me having German heritage and not speaking the language! She even wagged her finger at me. I guess I fit in here as a few people have addressed me so far in German.

It's pretty grey and rainy in Munich, but at least there are leaves on the trees and everything is nice and green. Caught a train right away to Nuremberg. Got to love first class as the train compartment is pretty much empty and it is so spacious!! They also give out free fresh pretzels! The hotel that I am staying at is really nice too. Free Wifi in the lounge downstairs and they play really chill music and serve alcohol...yum.

I walked around the old town of Nuremberg and found it very easy to get lost. The roadways are circular, so I kept going to the same place over and over again! I met Susanne, a girl I met through Couchsurfing at a bar by the river called Bar Celona. It was very good there and afterwards we walked through the old town and she gave me an excellent history lesson of the different buildings. Apparently most of the city was completely destroyed by the Americans during WW11. The people of Nuremberg wanted to recreate the city exactly as it was before the war and salvaged what they could of all the stone and rebuilt it to what it is today. Luckily the rain stopped as it was getting out of control for awhile there. The town is very nice in the evening as it is remarkably quiet and they have these old gas like lanterns throughout the city that emit a nice glow.
