Well, here we are finally in Pismo Beach, after a longer than anticipated journey up from LA (about 4.5 hours).  Was dark when we arrived, so have no real idea what the place is like, but the motel is ok, v cheap and cheerful but convenient to carry on our travels up the Pacific Highway (which by the way is spectacular!).  Next stop is Carmel/Monterey.  We should arrive there tomorrow afternoon, so will be able to have an explore.
