We took a day tour to Sabang, at the entrance to the longest underground river in the world. It's about 8 km long, under a mountain, but the tourist boats only go about 1.5 km into the cave, but it's still cool. The drive there was about three and a half hours, and then into one boat, to another boat that took us into the cool dark of the cave and the river. There are lots of huuuuuuge spaces in the caves and cool stalactites and stalagmites that the Filipinos have given Christian images/names. Our boat paddler had his spiel down, the most important part of which was, "Watch your mouth!" because of all the bats sleeping above you just where you wanted to look up to see what the spotlight was shining on. Christopher was convinced that everything that dripped on us was just water from the stalactites, but I think the hard hats we had to wear were mostly just bat-poop protectors.
The other highlight of this tour was that we saw some big monitor lizards, lizarding their way around the jungle at the mouth of the river.
