No I am not getting any madder - this is what people in Montrose say when they are going to the toilet, loo, bathroom and/or restroom.

Today Irene and Michael took me to the Black Canyon which is right next door to Montrose - it is quite spectacular and as it was really hot (about 38 C) and we are over 1 mile above sea level here in the town and then went up into the mountains it was a bit of a struggle.
We saw a couple of guys scaling a cliff. They had obviously abseiled down and were climbing up when we caught sight of them. We think they were park rangers practicing rescues or just having a fun day out!
We had a picnic up there with a nice Italian pino grigio, cheese, shaved turkey, tomatoes, crackers and some really nice blueberries, raspberries and cherries. Luckily there were picnic tables in the shade cos once in the sun it was just unbearable.
It was really too hot to do much else after that although we did stop at a shop at the entrance to the park - see the sign.
They collect the antlers that the deer drop each year and make things out of them. I like this totem like thing outside the shop - I have seen some wonderful creations from the antlers.
Irene and I came home and went to sleep and then went shopping at 8pm. It is really the best time for it - I thought there might be more people out but they must have all been at the drive-in watching Toy Story. I used to love going to the movies at a drive-in. It is such a shame they no longer have them. Open air movies like they had in Israel are an even better idea.
I got to practice driving on the wrong side of the road - believe it or not there are drivers here who do not take any notice of the speed limit and tail gate if you are going too slow for them. I got beeped because I was too cautious - you have to concentrate on staying on the right hand side of the road. Irene only has a small car and most of the other vehicles on the road are huge. The parking spaces are enormous in order to accommodate them so you know your car is not going to get dents from the doors of four wheel drives which is rather nice to know.

Hi Kate
Don't need to ask 'how are you?' as this is such a great blog. I have never read a blog before! Your sense of humor is fab and hope to get it in real life on the 28th August. Can you believe 30 years? Happy and safe travels. Margo

Hi Kate, nice pics and stories. Time is getting close, less than 2.5 weeks before I go. Everything is OK. Cats look well, have reduced them to half a can of catfood in the evening, if they are hungry later on, I give them some "biscuits". Purdie's tablets are going down the hatch well. I am using your gasheater a bit in excess, I'll make it up to you before I go. Have fun, John

Those cats need to go on a diet!

Well Jane, I've made a start. The rest is up to Kate. But I must say that they are a fairly happy mob. Quite a life though, sleep all day, sleep all night and in between they have a bite or get rid of their bite. It is good to see that Kate has such a good time. Cheers, John
