Well hello again everyone,

We have arrived on the island of Grand Turk in the region of the Turks and Caicos...

Beautiful by Nature is the National slogan of the Turks and Caicos Islands which is rumored were discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492.

Famous for her secluded beaches, crystal clear turquoise blue waters, unspoilt reefs and dramatic walls this archipelago has some of the best diving and snorkeling in the world.
We decided to enjoy the beaches and do some whale watching but unfortunately the whales were not behaving as they normally do at this time of year and we were not able to see them :(  a bit disappointed of course but that disappointment was overcome by an amazing beach and of course - pool bars in the pools surrounding the beach.

The atmosphere is, no worries it will come when it comes.  Meaning the pace was quite slow and relaxing was the order of the day.  Who are we to argue against this time honored tradition or sit back, relax and have another (meaning a cold drink).

The one thing we noticed is that it was extremely hot but with the island being so small in stature that there always seemed to be a cool breeze coming in and that helped immensely.

The people were incredibly friendly, it seemed they went out of their way due to us being Canadian. Not sure as to why but there seemed to be a love for us there - I couldn't argue with this logic either...lol  :)
So, we just sat back and enjoyed the time we had there.

During our stay we ended up renting a jeep (yep they had them) and we went exploring - believe it or not there was a small town and you could do the entire island in less than a few hours.  Believe me when I tell you it is small.  It is Small  :)

The food was the only downfall - not that it was bad, on the contrary, it was quite good but the cuisine was very North American, perhaps their attempting to cater to the majority of visitors to the island were from North America, primarily the United States.  So, I am assuming this makes sense.
There was nothing a few good sauces couldn't help on some of the dishes...they had a lot of fish but we somehow ended up eating some amazing chicken dishes and yes they were quite good.

The other thing we noticed was even though there were many pubs/bars/patios all around.  They had beach service as well, now that was something.  Order a drink and have it come to you on the beach - can you imagine that - I want that here...yes...What more can a girl ask for - Sun, Sand, the Beach and a strawberry daiquiri - oh yes...can you say HEAVEN!!!  :-)

What else can you say about this tiny island paradise - well, it was not crowded so that is a bonus and it has plenty to do other than the beach - a few good national parks to explore, whale  watching as I mentioned above, scuba diving and other water sports and if you are a big fisherman then there is also deep sea fishing.  So there you have it
If you come to Grand Turk, be prepared to be pampered in beautiful beaches with amazing hospitality,.

We enjoyed our time here immensely and did not really wish to depart...  Island Paradise with a little piece of heaven.

See you soon...and thanks for coming along for the trip...onto the next one...see you all soon,
**hugs**

Ciao for now,
Kathy...xoxo
