We met Claudia for lunch and then hired a car at the train station and drove to the Mosel Valley. Stopped in a little town by the river called Alken. The hills by the river were covered with vineyards and above Alken was Ehrenburg castle (reconstructed and the owners live in it). We were at a start of very popular cycling route and quite a few bikers stayed here for the night as well.
