Where I stayed
What I did
Very early start this morning, which was especially hard as Ben and I are both useless at
getting up anyway! However, today was our first proper guided tour so very exciting. We got
picked up outside the hostel at 7am by FJ Tours and started the drive to the Blue Mountains.
After a couple of stop offs, and a lot of nattering by our lovely driver Graham, we arrived
at Wentworth Falls. This was our first sight of the mountains and was incredible! So
beautiful. There were a couple of look out points and a short walk to see a waterfall on the
other side of the valley - very much worth the effort climbing up and down the very steep
path.
After Wentworth Falls we headed over to Scenic World and got the Scenic Skyway Cable car
across the valley with a glass floor - a bit scary but absolutely amazing views across the
valley. After the cable car we got the Scenic Railway down into the Park - the world's
steepest railway at a 52 degree angle. The photos nowhere near do it justice! Great fun
though. The railway took us down to the walkway through the forest so we wandered around the
park until it was time to get the cable car back up to the bus.
Our next stop was Echo Point - a lookout situated next to the Three Sisters. After a couple
more photos (yes, even more!) we posed with an Aborigine didgeredoo player. We then stopped
off in a little town called Leura before heading over to Featherdale Wildlife Park - the bit
Ben had been looking forward to ALL day! As soon as we walked in a little kangaroo hopped
over to us which was amazing! The Park only houses Australian animals, but most of them
wander round freely and there are large petting areas with the kangaroos, koalas and
farmyard animals. We fed all the kangaroos and stroked a very sleepy koala bear. I now know
exactly what Ben wants for Christmas!
Our final stop of the day was at the Sydney Olympic Park where we boarded a Captain Cook
cruise back to Darling Harbour. Very long but incredible day!
Tomorrow is our last day in Sydney so packing everything up tonight ready to splurge our $50
bar tab on our final night tomorrow. I will let you know how we get on...
