Deciding there's not much left to do in Lisbon (apart from cable cars but it was too far from where we were. Lisbon is stretched sideways and is hilly, making it very difficult to walk), we went on an excursion to Sintra. The 40 minute train ride reminded me of Szentendre, and I was checking my camera every five seconds for the whole day.

Everything in Sintra is sooooo far away (giving them a good reason to rip tourists off with bus rides) from each other and we only managed to go to half of places. We visited three palaces, some of which have been a challenge for my acrophobic self. Sintra is situated in mountain ranges and hills and looking down from the top gives you a chill.
I would say my best was the Moorish castle. It's not really a castle and it's more of a fortress with walls made of stone. Although climbing up was really hard, the view was amazing (and made me want to go to the toilet because I felt like I was wetting my pants..) and construction itself was a wonder.

We also went to a famous cafe the hostel guide recommended and had some random bread made of cheesecake, almond and custard. Oh nom nom, gotta love bread here!!! Got a taste of local water when we ran into drinking fountains - water tasted good :D
