I get up and have breakfast and make plans to meet up with dad at noon at the tomb of the unknown soldier. I do some window shopping prior to meeting up with him at H&M. We decide to go back to the cemntary to take a leisurrely stroll through it and see mom again. Again the crying. We also talk about mom which is good therapy for both of us. After the walking/sight seeing through the cementary we both are hungry and we double back to Mokotow to the bar mleczna that dad used to go to when he was in school. I enjoy a bowl of chicken and beet soup and kotlet mielony. Dad and I split the soup to enjoy both varieties. Hmmm.. I am amused/irritated/peturbed by the drunk guy in the bar mleczna. He orders a pork chop with potatoes and a plate of kasza with egg. He barely uses a fork and knofe for the pork chop and than proceeds to eat the kasza mixture with a knife. After he';s done "eating" he takes a nap at the table. /Next thing you hear is one of the woman from the back saying Excuse me sir, there's no sleeping here. The homeless guy in the back hear's that.. wakes up and get's moving on. The drunk guy not so much. Finally this woman comes out and (imagine your stereotypical Russian/Polish woman) shakes the guy and repeats to him no sleeping. He's still not getting it and falls back asleep. Next, the woman comes out again along with an accomplice who cleans the table up. The guy really did eat like a pig as the stereotypical slavic woman tells him. I am truly afraid of this woman. I would not want to meet her in a dark alley. The drunk guy FINALLY gets himself together and stumbles out of there. Entertainment for the afternoon.
After all that excitement, dad goes home for a nap. I go to the internet café, do some finance checking along with gay bar reconnaisance. I have chosen my first stop. A pub called Kozla pub located at ul Kozla 10/12 in Stare Miasto. I've been here before MANY years ago. I traverse the city and finally find it. Hmm.. out of date information. This place is VERY closed. I go to stop 2,a café on ul. Bracka 20 called "Miedzy Mani" translation = between us. Wow was this place impossible to find. Even with the address I passed it at least twice. Why you ask? They don't have a sign advertising themselves. After some deducing that the people inside this café looking thing may actually be at the bar in question and along with the sign stating that you need a membership card do I actually find the place. I had read in various web sites that they place the sign there to keep undesirables out. I go inside and it seems "gay enough". I go to the bar and pick up a map which lists the establishemnt along with a few gay bars. Yay!! A gay warsaw map. Dhoa.. nevermind it also lists the hard rock café. It's a mixture of gay and hetero places. Regardless a good map to have. I order myself an expensive (9zl) beer and ask the bartendar about gay bars. I am informed that the best bar to go to is Rasko. After that point many a pepople go to to Toro. I had read about that bar earlier and was pleased to find that it is really close to Baluckiego. Stumbling distance!!
Here's the 411; Rasko is at ul. Krochmalna 32. It's very close to Miedzy Nami. Wednesday is supposedly lesbian night. You know where I'll be Wednesday.
Afterwards I go shopping at H&M and C&A. I buy a pair of jeans, a much needed long sleeve thermal, T-shirt, shoes, and a scarf and hat combo. It's cold here people. I can't believe that I was on a beach just 2 weeks ago. I was going to go to the bar after this but instead decided to go home, drop off the bags, eat some dinner, and do some pre-partying with myself. I go to the store and buy some bread, kasza, beer, diet coke and rum. Gonna do a coke and rum mixture for the tram ride to Rasko. I eat dinner consisting of sour pickle soup and leftover chicken livers and kasza. Yummy.. no joke. Freaking delicious. I drink my beers and pour the rum into my liter diet coke and get going.
I get to Rasko and open the plain looking unmarked door from where I am greeted by 2 gay guys. I ask to go in because you just really never know. I get a response that I have heard before in my travels. You know where you are right?! Yep, at a gay bar, because I'm gay. From there I am treated like family and make my way through the second door to get to the bar. I order myself a beer and survey the land. Hmm.. not so much in the excitement field. People talking, mostly mens. I drink my beer and decide to go home. At this point in time, I'm not sure of where I am and how to get home and ask the bartender to call me a cab. I go outside to wait for the cab and end up chatting with this group of people that are going back to centrum. I ask them about any good places to go and basically follow them to centrum. From there I get the last tram for the night and go home. I am greeted by dad and I eat/inhale pate and bread. I quickly fall asleep after that.
