Where I stayed
Alas - *sigh* - all good things must come to an end - I guess, so I've been told. And this trip was a good thing - a marvellous thing! As I flip back through all the pictures I ventured to take (and they are not lacking in number, I assure you), I can scarcely believe the number of cities we visited and the amount of things we saw. Two months, five countries, eight flights, and a million bus/train rides. And yet the trip seemed to occur in the blink of an eye - like a dream, there one moment and snatched away the next. But the dream returns to me, at times, on the back of my eyelids, and I can see myself, as clear as muddy water is not, throwing rocks down the dam in Quentar again, or taking a boat through Venice's Grand Canal, or hiking one of the trails at Cinque Terre, or gazing at the plaster cast bodies at Pompeii, or riding a camel out into the desert to gain a better view of the Pyramids, or even descending into a pharaoh's tomb and gazing, jaw slightly agape, at the tomb paintings. These, to be sure, were a few of my favourite things on the trip, and I shall cherish them always.
Lastly, before I put this blog to rest, I wish to thank Andrew for letting me drag him to as many museums and Roman archaeological sites as I pleased. His patience was remarkable, especially during our long long long transit back home (one six hour flight, topped with a twelve hour layover at Abu Dhabi - at least this airport was top notch! - sprinkled with a thirteen hour flight to Toronto to complete the entire thing). Yes, we were both very jet-legged by the end. At least, and I am consoled by this, there were movies at Andrew's fingertips to placate him while in the air. Though we did get on each other's nerves at times, which is inevitable on a two month trip, I couldn't have traveled with anyone better, in my personal opinion.
Well, Blog-dogs, this is the end. I saw some really amazing things, had a slew of great experiences, and ticked off another Wonder of the World from the list - what more could I ask for? Thanks for your devoted attention, and chow chow chow!
