Today we drove down to the second of the four main keys, Islamorada. It was only about a 20 minute ride but a very picturesque ride. We arrived at the Theater of the Sea. This was everyone's favorite part of the trip.
It began with a parrot show. We learned that some parrots can live up to 120-150 years and the oldest recorded parrot lived up to 180 years old! At the end of the show, I got to hold a parrot. Next was the dolphin show. I was chosen as a volunteer to pet the dolphins. Then, there was a sea lion show. They were sooo cute, especially when they "smiled." After that, Dad and I went on a bottomless boat tour of the facility. The whole family then took a guided tour of the Mangrove where we learned that white mangroves have sacrificial leaves. Interesting... I wonder how they choose which leaves they will sacrifice! Finally, we went to the lagoon where Andre and I waded and fed the beautiful blue tropical fish.
We went back to the hotel for lunch and naps.
