We went back to the train station and bought our tickets. We were one of two families on the first train out. It was so hot but thank goodness the cars were covered and there was a bit of a breeze. The train went through the woods and over a small gorge. It was beautiful scenery. We also learned a little bit of history of the Wisconsin Dells area. It is actually French - the French explorers named the area DALLES (slabs) after the unique rock formations that resembled slabs. The whole trip was about 45 minutes.
Next, we went to Pizza Pub for lunch. We ordered the soup and salad bar and vegetarian gluten free pizza. We were so impressed with the gluten free options here. Last year, we had so much trouble finding something to eat.
After lunch, we put on our bathing suits, lathered up in several layers of sunscreen, and went to the Polynesian Resort. This was our favorite part of the trip. The lazy river was so relaxing and the kiddie pools were so much fun. Daddy got to go down some of the bigger water slides. It was so hot though that even in the water one could feel the strength of the sun.
We returned to our hotel, showered, and took a 4 hour nap! The sun and water must have really drained us.
After our long nap, we went to Kalahari Resort. This place is enormous! There is so much to do here: arcade, rides, mini golf, movies, two water parks, and much more! We just played in the arcade and I went on a couple of rides. We ran into the owner of our favorite vegan restaurant in Chicago, Amitabul! It was really strange to see someone we knew there. We were joking about how we handle the food situation in the Dells because it is not very vegetarian friendly and certainly not vegan friendly! I had a lot of fun playing the arcade games with Daddy! I am not allowed to play these kinds of things at home so this was a super treat for me! I loved going on the swings and the carousel too.
Finally, we went to Moose Jaw Pizzeria and Brewery for a very late dinner at 10:30. Again, we were so surprised to see several options that we could enjoy! We all got to wear fun hats with Moose antlers.
After a fun and busy day, we all fell asleep very quickly!
