After breakfast we took a taxi to the station as it would have been a real uphill slog. I had arranged to meet someone from a letting agent outside the apartment I had booked in Prague at 15.00 but came across a snag on the way there. As they were working on the railway line, after an hours train ride, all passengers from the train were asked to board busses that took us to the next train station a half an hour bus ride away. We then all boarded the train again and continued with the journey. We panicked a bit as only our 2 suitcases were sent with a van and the rest of the people's suitcases went in the bus luggage storage and were very relieved when the van was in the parking lot when we arrived at the station. The apartment was difficult to find and so we arrived a half an hour late but luckily the lady had waited for us. We were pleasantly surprised at how big the apartment is as we both have our own rooms and bathrooms, Daniella's being up a spiral staircase. It has a fully equipped kitchen as well so I am back to cooking. It's nice to have space again. There is a supermarket-Spar-just around the corner and on our way there we came across the most amazing buildings and they are just "ordinary" ones.
I went into the city centre today and also to the Prazsky hrad ( Prague castle) and on my return I had taken 140 photos! Everywhere one looks there is an opportunity to take a photo.
I took a video of the Old Town Square to show all the buildings as well as the famous tower that houses the astronomical clock which when it chimes has some figures going around.
It rained last night so it was overcast and the view from the castle unfortunately a bit hazy.
I went to the toy museum in the castle that also has Barbies on show just like we saw in Munich although this one is a lot bigger. I guess all major cities will be celebrating 50 years of Barbies. Some of them dated back to 1963.
As I was walking I came across a bridal couple that I saw again at a later stage as they were obviously choosing their spots for their wedding photos which I am sure are going to look great.
I also came across the John Lennon wall which is a wall covered in graffiti. Prague is pretty jacked with a hop on hop off bus as well as a Segway tour which looked like fun.
In the morning I went for a Thai massage which was quite an experience. At one stage the lady was actually standing on me, granted she was not very big, and proceeded to walk over me. Daniella and I went to a Salvador Daly exhibition in the afternoon. As we looked out of the window onto the old square we saw a bunch of people doing the Harlem shake. Looked really funny. When we came out of the building it was raining and we had quite a distance to walk home and arrived back looking like drowned rats.
I have to postpone posting my blog for tonight as I want to surprise my friend, Fuzzy, in Berlin tomorrow who is an ardent reader of it. I have arranged via Facebook with her son, Björn, that he would fetch us once we arrived in Fürstenweide and take us to his parents. I have told Fuzzy that we would be arriving on Monday and she is quite excited. Hope all works out.......
