We live our lives forward but understand it backwards.. Not sure where I heard this but I am finding it to be SO true.  I am LIVING LARGE... forward and understanding ... so much more now backwards. Probably due to the fact that I am doing my meditation, qigong and yoga and living on top of the mountain by myself. A lot of time to think,  ponder and just do nothing.. being  more mindful and aware of the moments and my surroundings.
Everyone that knows me.. knows how much I LOVE life,   I am thankful for my blessings and grateful for everyday that I am here. I also love to give to others. I hope by sharing my journey with you that you are getting joy from it and having an adventure too. I hope that the people I have met along the way have been given something by my meeting and friendship.
I am at my half way point of my stay in Costa Rica. It is a beautiful country and a beautiful way of living.  Painting brings me such joy and peace. I am excited about some of the new directions and  inspirations I am having, in my paintings. I love color.. which leads me to another project I am working on, writing and illustrating my Pablo the sheep children's book.  Pablo is born into a black and white world, but he feels like there is something more out there... so he decides to leave his meadow, explore, travel and discover.  Hopefully, I will get it published.  I am entering it into a contest,  first in July.   Will have to wait and see what unfolds with that.
Last Friday, I had a friend over for lunch, Polyonesian chicken (pineapple, mangoes with chicken) pork fried rice a tasty time.  I told her I would give her painting lessons.. or just free time to paint together. The afternoon was so much fun and was again reminded me how much I LOVE to teach. It was great to see the success and joy that she achieved in her painting, her first one!!  Fabulous. I heard from one of my parents of my Brookings Art Academy ( BAA) that her son doesn't want to take art lessons from anyone but Kari... certainly flattering to me but not my intention to be exclusive  only to me.
Last Thursday, I went with my neighbor's adult kids,( that were visiting from NY) horseback riding. It was a guided tour to Nauyaca Waterfalls. IT WAS FABULOUS< BEAUTIFUL<AWESOME, one of my favorite days of my travels. We left at 8 in the morning.  My horse was named Pasquilitta and she had spunk!!! I have done quite a bite of riding in my day, so the guide gave me a horse  that had spirit. She always wanted to be at the lead.  I was reminded of the time my brother Mark and I went on an overnight horseback trip up at our cabin in Hayward Wisconsin. Mark's horse was named Lightening and was slow as molasses, and my horse was named Pepper and had spunk like Pasquillita  We rode for a while and then stopped at a hacienda to have breakfast. Potato cakes, cornbread, and great Costa Rican coffee and a plate of juicy fruit (papaya, bananas, mangos and pinneapple), fresh squeezed orange juice. Oh so tasty.  The setting was idilyic  and peaceful. We rode through the jungle on a trail, different trees, flowers, over bridges, rivers, streams,  fields, hills, overhanging canopy of trees.  It was so cool. You could hear the waterfalls from a great distance... it had rained over 9 inches during the night. We were told to wear our swimsuits because we would swim at the waterfalls. But it turned out to be too powerful. The heavy rainfall the night made it difficult to swim. , the current and the falls were too powerful. It was inspiring to see. BEAUTIFUL.. nature at it's finest. (reminded me about my trip with my kids Hallie, Graven and Beau that we took to Niagra Falls ). One of our favorite trips. We stayed at the falls awhile and took in the power of nature. Carefully ascended the hill and rode some more. The guide Andreas, let me go on ahead. Pasquallitta wanted to run... SO WE DID. It was  my horse and me with my long locks flowing (just kidding)  galloping through the jungle in COSTA RICA. I was overcome with appreciation for MY LIVING LARGE LIFE.  We all got back together at the hacienda. Enjoyed a wonderful lunch of roasted chicken, tortillas, beans, rice and potatoes. Delicious, and not surprisingly, I was really hungry after the ride. Riding back to the stables, arriving about 1:30.  I wanted it to keep on... going, at least until I got off my horse... my legs and hip  well... let's just say I was walking with a slightly different gait than when I got on earlier in the day.  I have often fancied the fact that  I was Annie Oakley in one of my previous lives.
I definitely will try to do that again.
This week I am going to fly to another area of CR and visit a friend of a friend in Tamarindo and Playa Flamingo.  Looking forward to seeing another area, but can't imagine it getting any better than where I am!

Enjoy the photos and hope that your days are filled with joy and blessings. (as when I think of you all)
