Today is a discovery/golf day.
First we head over to Minister Island which can only be accessed by driving across the Ocean Floor at low tide (so you have a 4 hour window). It is a 200 acre island that was owned in 1890 by VanHorne who was the head of CP Rail. He built a 25 room mansion complete with bathhouse that has a natural swimming pool at high tide and a HUGE barn with its own creamery. He raised prize winning show cows and Clydesdale horses and well as having milking cows and other animals, like llamas! It is a beautiful island and the mansion is fantastic,, makes you think of how grand it would be to be a guest in the early 1900's. Head back to campsite for lunch then bike into town and walk around till 3pm.. very neat little town with lots of interesting shops and eateries. Large harbour with lots of whale watching boats and active fishing boats.
At 3:30 Danny goes golfing at local course and front nine is non descript but most of the back nine has wonderful ocean views. Course is not as nice as the ones in PEI but the views are great! I golf with a member and he shows me the way... Another HOT day.
BBQ dinner and it cools down a lot after dinner so no fire.
