After a morning breakfast stop in Lynchburg at the infamous Bob Evans, we headed northwest to Lexington, VA for our tour and info session on Washington & Lee University.  We traveled the 501 route through the mountains.  Wow!  What a drive it was.  Lots of hilly windy road and you did feel the up and down travel through the mountains.  There's really no direct highway from Lynchburg to Lexington.  If we weren't so pressed for time, I would have liked to have stopped along the way to take pictures.  Once we got to Lexington, we could tell that it was the expected quaint and historic old town that it appeared to be in pictures.  It's really a beautiful campus and also bordered by the Virginia Military Institute (our quick "drive-by tour").  After meeting with the baseball coach, it was straight to the admissions office for the college info session and tour of the campus.  The Lee Chapel was very interesting since Robert E. Lee is entombed in part of the church and his horse is also buried on the property.  Lots of history and quite the academic institution.  We departed for Harrisonburg to check in to our final hotel on this journey (JMU tomorrow), relax and grab a great dinner at Cally's Restaurant and Brewing Co. in downtown Harrisonburg.  Excellent fish tacos, fish and chips and wings...and a great pear caesar salad.
