After 10 different forms of transportation, we made it to Gapang Beach in Pulau Weh. We were here for the diving, which proved good since there's little more to do on this big island. We roamed the streets of Sabang, the main town, the day we got here looking for alcohol. Alcohol, the ONE thing we should have but did not bring with us. On the other hand, we were packed with food and cigarettes, thinking that both these things would be more expensive once off the mainland. Wrong.

Whatever, we enjoyed our daily salt-cheese-crackers with peanut butter and bananas breakfasts, or at least I did. The diving was pretty good, but the dive shop, Lumba Lumba, had a PADI video feel to it I never really got used to.

One of the highlights of the island was the family BBQ for dinner. This consisted of barbecued barracuda, rice (of course, we ARE in indonesia), gado-gado, tempeh, vegetable curry, fried potato balls, tuna cake AND ice cream for 30,000 Rupiah. A feast.

Another pretty sweet deal was our dear bungalow, our home for 4 nights. At first we had a pretty awkward guest, not invited by anyone but neither sent away by any of us. Mikita, from White Russia (yes, yes, I had to look the country up, I had no idea it existed), kind of stuck to us since we met him on the ferry here. The two days he spent buzzing around like a half-dead mosquito, we were all a little bit hesitant about his intentions and secretly feared he would kill us all in the middle of the night.

He didn't. He left. Poor guy, maybe we judged him too harshly. ANYWAY, once we had finished diving..we had a little party at our sweet bungalow. Beer, banana brandy and a bottle of tequila, provided by Cody, a canadian/gringo we met at the dive shop. As usual, I was the first one to go to bed...but my sweet dreams about flying in the water while staring at colorful fishies were interrupted to go for a midnight swim. Needless to say, after such a fun night, the next morning was slow and painful. Thankfully, we had NOTHING to do.
