Departed Lucern at 7.15 as this was our longest driving day. Total of 680 kms today before we arrived in Paris. About half of the distance was through farming country so we enjoyed watching and taking pictures of headers and field bins, as well as the local silo systems. Lots of farm photos in this blog....apologies if this does not interest you. Most of the bus slept, it certainly did not interest them. We loved it! Crops all good as we expected. Wonder what it would be like to say I'm a farmer just out of Paris!
Morning tea and lunch stops another opportunity to enjoy French pastries.. .yum.
Got into Paris and our hotel the Marriott Rive Gauche at 4.30 on the left bank.
Our last included meal tonight and a celebratory dinner at a nearby brassiere. Best meal by far and everyone was in a celebratory mood and lots of photos taken. John and Deb from Canada gave everyone a maple leaf made by an ex serviceman, and all the newly ordained Canadians wore them with pride for the rest of the evening.
Then it was time for our hour cruise on the river seine, a gorgeous night and our group did not bother with the commentary and stayed at the front on the bottom level. Back on the bus for an illuminations tour as Paris was beginning to light up for the evening. Had a nice long stop by the River Seine as the Eiffel tower did its glitz and sparkle at 10pm. Good shots. Haven't been here for three years but Paris has lost none of its charm for me.....

An early start the next day as we were trying to get to the Louvre Museum before it got too busy. Our second visit but I was looking forward to revisiting. As we had found it last time there were people everywhere. Our local French guide was a little rude and a couple of times said to our group were we bored she would finish the tour early if we did not look fascinated. Truth be told we were all a little tired and not in the mood for it. Still enjoyed the painting The Wedding Feast at Canne the most...on the opposite wall to Mona Lisa but more interesting to me.
Next a tour around the major sites and a lunch stop on Champs Elysses. Getting pretty hot and got hotter in the next stop the Eiffel tower. Thankfully we had express pass and only had to wait ten minutes. What a shambles though, only one lift working and most people had waited a minimum of 3 and 1/2 hours in the hot sun! Felt a bit guilty walking straight in. Nice clear day and could see views for a long way.
Back to the hotel for a break before we went out to the Nouvelle Eve, similar but smaller ensemble than the Moulin Rouge. Both options available to us but we had been to Moulin Fouge before, some went to one and some to the other. What a great night! We had a small table right at the stage...a delicious three course meal, bottomless drinks, attentive waiters and great entertainment. Kevin's mouth open all night! So close to the action.... A couple of our group were roped onto the stage to participate and provided some laughs for the rest of us. We both enjoyed it more that we had the Moulin Rouge three years ago. Last drinks with the group at the hotel, hugs and kisses all round...all feeling a bit sad to say goodbye to our new friends.
