Wake up call at 6. Bags out 6.30. On bus 7.30.....this will be our morning pattern for the next 17 days. No use complaining, it's just the way it is and at least we get to our hotel by 4.30 and we can have a break then. Easy day today, a one hour drive to Heidelberg where we had a stop for an hour or so, Kevin had black forest cake which was delish, and then a walk around to admire the architecture and cobbled streets. A very old castle among the forests and the Necktar River it was lovely. Then a two hour drive to Rothenburg for a long 3 hour lunch break. What a lovely medieval walled city, full of pretty shops, cafes, a town square and the wall around the inner city which is partly destroyed but otherwise in great condition considering it was built in the 1200's! Here there is a famous Christmas shop which is called Kathe Wohlfahrt and is only shut for one day each year...Christmas day. Three levels of every imaginable decoration your heart might desire, great fun and very beautiful. I managed to buy several items, not all for me though! We had lunch on the street under an umbrella with a WA couple we seem to be spending a lot of time with, Lyn and Lawrie, they are great company. Lawrie has a cold at the moment and Kevin having had recent experience with this dragged him into a apotheke (chemist) and using hand gestures, coughing sounds and other pointing and sounds managed to get across to the pharmacist what was the problem. Anyway they came out with tablets...written of course in German so now poor Lawrie is not sure how many and when to take. It was pretty funny to watch. Anyway for lunch in Germany what would I like.....schnitzel of course and very nice it was too. Back on the bus and off to our overnight stop in Wurzburg where we arrived by 4.30. Hotel is an old castle and our room was obviously originally where they held the supplies or the prisoners! Kevin asked to be upgraded and they obliged and we snared a beautiful room complete with balcony and 180 degree views of the beautiful town in the valley, the river and the hillsides steep and planted with grape vines.....nice! Included dinner tonight was fairly average, nice evening though with everyone on two big tables and lots of laughs were shared.
