Hi Y'all (that's for Drew)
Well today we started off our day with a little drive to Carlsbad, NM. This is the home of some very famous caverns. When we walked in we found that it was Luray Cavern's on steriods. You start off the self guided tour by walking through an Ampitheater. You might ask yourself why you would walk through an ampitheater to get into a cavern? Well the answer is there is something very special that happens in Carlsbad in the summer...Bats. Every night just before dawn thousand upon thousand of them come swarming out to feed on the surrounding insects. It's quite amazing! We then headed down into the world deepest limestone caverns....800 ft. below to be exact. As you can see by the amazing amount of pictures we took it was breathtaking down there. The total hike is about 3 miles long. Luckily once you get to the bottom of the caverns they have an elevator that takes you back to the top, or else we might never have gotten out. After all that excitement we went back to the car and headed off to Alamogordo. Don't worry more to come soon!
