Howdy,

Been in Vancouver for a couple of nights now and my impressions are: Have i left melbourne yet ? Everything here you could almost picture a place or suburb back home. From Yaletown (Docklands), 10th Ave (Mont Albert Road) to Robson St (Chapel st). It just does not feel like i've left melbourne, just got on a plane for 28hrs to only land back from wence i came. The only difference being i'm sharing a dorm room in a hostel with a German, a Dutch and of course an Aussie....well there are aussies everywhere !

The hostel is quite nice actually (1025 Granville St). Equal if not better than any low budget accommodation. The beds are clean, the bathrooms are amazingly clean and the internet is free along with breakfast....actually internet is free almost everywhere ... if you can go wireless, all for less than $30CA.

What have i done so far ? Not much really, today the weather is shocking...rain, rain and more rain (was a good idea buying the Very Lite Gore Text jacket, i love it). Did a bit of cycling around Stanley Park just before the rain arrived (would have been freezing if not for the jacket).

Yesterday walked around 10th Ave where a lot of the houses are heritage listed and very much suburbia...quite nice actually. Did Chinatown...nothing special, not very big and wasn't very busy. Walked down Gastown...i think it's got to do with old train docks or something ..... i know, i know...i should pay more attention but as some of you guys know i don't pay much attention to things :) Strolled down Carrall and Hastings st....seeeeeeeeddddddyyyyyyy !!!

That's about it, heading off to Kelowna on Friday (over here) to maybe try and get some work at Big White then to Banff and then Fernie (along with 50 million other Aussies).

Oh yeah, like the States, everything is just overssized, for example I paid $10.50CA! for a Hoegaarden (beer) big boy ~500+ ml which comes in a 1 kg glass where you almost need to lift it with two hands! I'll get a picture of it next time.

Hi Benny!

It's good to hear from you! Glad to know you made it in one peice.

Atleast you won't feel homesick, I'm sure there's a suburb there you can visit that is like home .. or Toohey's or is that Toomey?

Best of luck getting work. Is it going to be IT?

Keep us posted you very BRAVE man.

And happy travels!
