It has been snowing in Paris for the last week and a half. But today it is sunny which is so nice. I have been on my break from school for a week now...it is just what i needed from my busy school and work schedule. I've been sleeping in til noon and waking up with nothng to do but explore parts of the city I haven't seen before. I am also applying for other jobs and putting up flyers with three of my headshot/portraits for actors with my contact info to make extra cash. Taking pictures of course and spending quality time with Brea. I am enjoying it while I can b/c in a week I start once again and will go nonstop until my graduation on May. 20 from Speos Photography Institute. Sunday we leave to Istanbul, Turkey. We will be there for five days. It will be our first trip ever to the middle east/eastern Europe. It is a primarily Muslim country with mosques, Turkish baths and great food...I have to research a little bit more before we go, but I am so excited to discover and photograph it myself
. Oh, and our Valentine's in Barcelona didn't exactly workout the way we had planned. We set three alarm clocks the night before and were all packed and ready to leave by 5am. Well, NONE of the alarms went off and we woke up 2hours late. don't have any idea how that could happen, but it did...so we stayed in Paris for V-Day, which of course is a pretty good place to be for the romantic holiday. We had a wonderful dinner at an authentic Italian restaurant near our house called Sopranos. Candlelights, rose petals on the ground and great music. I guess Barcelona was not meant to be. Brea got me two great photography books, one called On the Other Side of the Camera by Arnold Crane. He's taken pictures of other great photographers over the last century...really amazing book. I bought Brea three of the biggest roses I've seen and some French chocolate pastries. Vatsal, one of my best friends from Austin, and his girlfriend Melissa are coming to visit me in Paris in May. They really wanted my best friend Matt to get a chance to see Paris and Europe so they bought him a plane ticket to come with them. That's the nicest and coolest thing I've heard of in a long time. I am so excited they get to come. We're going to have a blast. Last night I spoke with the owner of the Politburo Bar, where I'm having my first photography show and it is all set for the end of March! I included some of my new work that will be in the show in the photo section of the travelogue. I have been taking photos of my contact sheets and making prints from them. Basically, combining different photos together to make one image. Also some photos from the Cote Ivoire Celebration Brea worked for in Paris. It was quite amazing...dancers, actors, and musicians. Hope all is well back home and write me sometime back if you get a chance. I'd love to hear what's going on. take care.
