May 2nd 2008 (i sorta took over on this one :)

So we are back in Thailand and on Koh Chang, enjoying the beach. The rainy season is coming fast and we can tell the weather is changing. At first it was clear blue skies, not a cloud to be seen. Then it started raining at night. And today, May 2nd, it is raining during the day. (wicked wicked thunder and lightning!!)

(We got here and knew that we wanted to go to Lonely Beach. It is a bit out of the way, which makes things cheaper, which in turn allows us to stay here for almost 3 weeks!! Sweet! We found a place called Siam huts, this is actually the place that Keir stayed at 7 years ago but it has totally changed in that time. The beach at this place was rocky but a bit further down it was nice and sandy. Whew. We stayed in a beachfront bungalow for the first 3 nights. It wasn't bad, but there was a resident Gecko of some sort that liked poo-ing on us. Yes, I said poo-ing!! We think that he lived up in the roof. But the good thing is he always did his business when we had the mosquito net set up! That is thoughtful to say the least. But we didn't want to spend all of our time with this very regular little bugger. The restaurant wasn't really the greatest either and we always ended up at the Nature resort just down the beach. So we packed up for the last time and headed to the bungalows at Nature Beach.

We got a pretty good deal by staying so many nights. almost $10 off a night for 15 days! sweet! We have set up this place to the nine's! We have the hammock out on our patio, a few clotheslines to dry our bathing suits and towels, we went to the store and bought peanut butter, bananas and bread for sandwiches, a big bag of fruit (rambutans) for snacks, and we have everything put away or hung up so the little creepy crawly ants can't get their hands on it! It's actually quite perfect! The food at the restaurant is great and very reasonable, compared to all of the places further into town. They have a disco...not much to it but they have one. And almost everynight a few of the servers put on a fireshow. It's really cool. We will try to get a video on here of it...especially for you Chelsea!! ;)

(there is a few stores about a 15 minute walk from here that we can get cheap water and groceries, and almost everytime we have walked in, we have seen wild monkeys playing on the power lines! There were about 10 of them last time...they were eying up our bananas i'm sure of it! I have only been able to get 1 photo of them...and it's pretty crappy, but we'll try to get more. Otherwise, we aren't doing too much, we have 5 more days here then it is off to Bangkok to do last minute shopping and then off to Australia!!! We are super excited about that new chapter. Keir has the whole campervan design down to a T...we just need to find one and the reno's begin!
So until then we will be lying on the beach, reading our 6th or 7th book, swimming in the bath temperature ocean, and eating our Paanang curries. It's a tough life.

Miss you all!!)
