1st train journey to Moscow of our Transiberian adventure!

Busy day lots in St Petersburg to finish before we got onto the train and right on our doorstep at the Soul Kitchen - St Isaac's Cathedral, Decembrist Square, Church of the Resurrection and the rest of the Hermitage.
Nevskiiy Prospect is huge and we only realised that on the hike down to the station to catch the overnight train to St Petersburg.

1st journey on the Transiberian and 1st experience in Platz Kart (3rd class) - we both had upper bunks which didn't matter as it was an overnight journey. The choices were first class (2 beds), 2nd class (4 beds) but pretty much full and 3rd class which is basically a dorm full of beds. Everyone we met at the hostell told us that if we wanted to really experience Russia and Siberia, we couldnt trave and hide in 2nd class as we would never meet anyone. So we changed our minds and went with the cheaper option.....We were a little hesitant but everyone said it was even safer in 3rd class so we were sold by that!

After several ticket checks, a bit of a panic that wouldnt find our platform, no one spoke English and we had a panic that we would be stranded before we had even left....we found our train with 10 mins to spare and climbed up onto  our bunks for the 8 hour journey. Nerves kicked in a little so neither of us could sleep so we played rock paper scissors for most of the journey and arrived in Moscow at 4am extremely blarey eyed made worse by the fact that the tube didnt start until 5am! boooo
