The Current Plan
At the moment (bear in mind we haven't even been to see anyone to find out if this is feasible) our plan is as follows:
Leave London in January to go to India
Travel round the south of India for approx 6 weeks finishing in Chennai
Fly from Chennai to Bangkok
Have Bangkok as our base for overland travel to Northern Thailand, Laos and Cambodia
Relax for a while on one of the Thai Southern islands before heading down
into Malaysia
Travel through Malaysia, eventually into Singapore
Fly to Indonesia and spend a week on a few different islands
Fly to Perth and see some of western Australia
Journey to Sydney (either car, train or plane) and see the Gold Coast up to Cairns
Fly to NZ and spend a couple of weeks on North Island followed by a couple
on South Island
Long flight to Chile
Combination of over ground travel where possible and flights where impossible to Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Mexico and Brazil before flying home.
I stress that this is a rough plan at the minute. There are loads of other places we would like to go to and hopefully when we actually sit down to work out our round the world ticket some of them might be viable - we'll just have to wait and see.
This will probably be the last entry for a while until we have managed to get a bit further in transforming these plans from a pipe dream into reality. All I can worry about for now is trying to ensure we have enough money to go with. This inevitably has an effect on where we go and how long for. Unfortunately it is impossible to work proposed expenditure out scientifically and we are at the mercy of the Lonely Planet website to a large extent. This is obviously of concern and so we are basically saving as much money as possible until we leave and then we'll come back when we run out. Donations can be made via the secure link below...
