Got into KLIA early evening and before customs I went to the rainforest they have in the airport. Loads of bird noises but no actually birds to be seen.  Hmmmm.  Made my way to the hostel, which the driver kept telling me was located in the red light district.  The hostel turned out to be a hotel, and they had a partnership with the hostel company I am members with.  Single room, with TV and working shower.  Very nice.  Had a quick wonder around local area before bed.

Public transport is easy to use here and had a monorail station next to the hotel and first port of call was KLCC station to see the Petronas towers.  They were bigggg, and the metallic grey colour made it look even grander.  Took a few snaps before heading into KLCC suria which is a shopping mall.  Wondered into a few shops and grabbing a bite to eat.  Walked around KLCC park which is behind the petronas towers and had a leisurely stroll.  Next port of call was the KL tower, which is a few hundred meters from the petronas towers.  There was a cultural village at the bottom, so had a walk around it before going up the KL tower to see KL from a higher vantage point.  A lot more green to be seen compared to Bangkok.  Few more pics of the petronas towers.  Dropped into a 7-11 to find a bag of crisps called Jigs and a soft drink called Kickapoo.  I knew my brother was trying to take over the world and Kickapoo; yummy.  Made my way to Butik Batang and the Pavilion mall; bloody hell it makes Westfield look miniscule.  Shop, after shop after shop.  Had a look in a few but my attention waned and headed to the cinema to watch the amazing Spiderman for 3.  Nice.  Toby McGuire looks different.  Had some food before heading back to the hotel.

Next day made my way to Masjid Jamek; which is the historical area of KL.  Saw a mosque and some older buildings built during the British reign.  Went to a historical gallery as well as freedom square, where there is a massive flag of Malaysia.  Actually there are a lot of Malaysian flags all over the city.  Saw some more monuments before making my way to the botanical gardens for a wonder around there.  All bot gardens starting to look the same as well now.  Made my way back to the hotel for a pick to visit the Batu Caves; a Hindu temple.  First we had a quick trip to Little India (will talk more about that later) and then made our way to the caves.  The caves are primarily a tribute to Lord Murugan (a 100m golden statue next to the caves) but several other Indian Gods are there as well.  272 steps to get to the top where we were greeted by monkeys at various points, one nicked a lady's gift, one was carrying a baby, one was eating a feast and two got up too some hanky panky.  Once we reached the top there was a spectacular view of the statues and temples.  The statues depict Murugan and his family; Brother Ganesh, Dad Shiva and Mum Parvati and stories relating to the family.  There is also a large Hanuman statue at the site, which is also beautifully constructed.  Well worth a visit for non-Hindus too.  In the evening checked out the local area and had a mix platter of local food; which went through me like a sieve; Bad times.

Next day and paid a visit to Petaling street (china town area) and Little India.  Little India was very colourful and everyone was shaking their heads from side to side.  Feels like im in ealing road or southall broadway.  The Malaysian prime minister was doing a talk there in the evening so was full of military people and stage workers.  Bloody Obama in my way in Rome and this dude here.  Had a wonder round the shops before I made my way back to center off town.  Started to piss down with rain so time for another movie; Ice Age 4 this time.  Final evening and I made my way to the petronas towers to watch them light up as the sun came down.  Looked amazing all lit up, the top of the tower looked a bit like a pair of daleks.
