So next port of call was Adelaide which was a 42 hour train journey from Perth. There was a whole load of nothing to look at on the journey, but thankfully no kids or anyone too annoying so the journey didn't feel that long. Read the last Sherlock Holmes book written, got to say Arthur Conan Doyle was all about the racism. Can't imagine Benedict or Robert Downey saying some of that stuff.

Spent 6 days in Adelaide, with the city set up in American street fashion but having an European feel to it. I really liked the city had a quirky feel to it, loads of people, buskers, just a good atmosphere.

During my time there walked too different parts of the city, saw various street art, rundell street/mall (shopping area), Adelaide oval, botanical gardens, various statues, River Torrens walk and the market. Market is one of the biggest I have seen and had a wide variety of food there from around the world, with loads of intoxicating smells and colour. Next to it was China Town, so the place was packed when we went there at night. One morning I also visited a gallery too look at aboriginal art. Spent some time looking at the cards showing the meaning of the art. This was also the first time I had some proper lay ins, like the old student days. No traffic jams, roadworks or rain, just a nice warm bed till after midday.

Wasn't just a lazy bum, I went swimming with wild dolphins one very early morning. Made my way to the coast and got into a wetsuit, before the search for flipper/echo began. Didn't take too long to find a pod, and we went to the back of the boat, where there were 3 lines of rope. 2 outer ones are where people go out into the water and hold on. The middle one is a shark repeller. Jumped into the water which thankfully wasn't too bad and you position yourself so your on the side of the shark repeller. Was a strong current so was hard work getting into position plus the boat was moving 80% of the time so I was always adjusting position. Then we saw the fins close by before one swam underneath my feet, and I saw its fishy face. In total we saw about 3 pods of dolphins, none came right close to us beside the one that went under my feet, but when on the boat I got a closer look. No bait was used and dolphins came of there own accord, the first pod were especially playful. It was hard on the arms as you are continuously moving on the rope, they were really fatigued by then end of it. Next day body was stiff all over, hence one of the long lay ins. Was a great experience, but got to say shark experience was better.

The hostel didn't have many workers ans zombies so played some cards one night, went to some bars a couple of nights and played in a ping pong tournament where I lost to a German in the second round, bad times.

I liked my quirky little city.
