Hey guys,

So today was shopping crazy! Originally we were supposed to meet up with grandpa and go shopping but it turned out like a regular day with the 3 of us filling our day and then meeting up with him for dinner. It's a lucky escape for him, because we got a lot done (but I'll try to keep it short).

Before the day started and everybody was getting ready I quickly dashed to the car and started driving around the car park. I had gained some confidence after seeing Dad driving around the day before and I felt I could roll with the differences and drive around. After familiarizing myself with the controls being around the other way (blinker, lights, the whole deal) I was ready to go.

We started off with Target which, as some of you may know, we have in Australia. The store on the inside is essentially the same, with the exceptions of it being bigger and there being refreshments available at the front of the store. Dad and Z were able to secure quite a lot of clothing, but I bought essentially everything I needed right there in the store!

After we loaded up with what could be described as too much clothing, we headed off to the next store. We *may* have gotten a little lost, but apart from that everything went smooth. We passed a Best Buy (for any nerds out there, think electronic orgasm heaven multi-touch PC gaming haven), where I got a few nick-nacks, including a converter for my laptop charger (which I've had no time to set up, but doesn't seem to work with what I've done so far... *sigh*). We spotted a wonderful HD video camera (my current one is licking major donkey yoo hoo) which we wanted to learn more about, but they were so busy slash didn't want to make a sale that we ended up leaving.

At this point we went to Costco. If you can imagine bulk stock stacked as high as you can see and as far as the horizon you can imagine what Costco looks like. They have a $50 membership card which we now own, and we found the same video camera mentioned above for $110 less, which we snapped up. We also purchased some candy in bulk (among other things) which I will leave sealed until we get home (so I can blackmail my friends with, MWAHAHAH!).

The rest of the day has been pretty quiet. We went to Dillards (kudos to Aimee for reminding me of the name!). It was kind of like a big Myers, where we were able to find some cologne for myself and Dad. The perfume lady was quite nice and secured me a limited edition of my favourite cologne (a shiny golden bottle instead of the regular brown, it's really quite nice). Dad paid for it and I tipped her $10 which she was very gracious about. Tipping is hard here in the states, we're not sure when or how much and so far it's been limited to waitresses and waiters as nobody else seems to lift a finger to make an effort (and I'm willing to bet it's because they know we're foreign to tipping and do it poorly). However we tipped the waiter at the Mexican restaurant $50 tonight for his spectacular service (and he remembers both Dad and I from being there 6 years ago!).

Before I finish, there's one thing I've noticed that I may have mentioned before, but I'll mention again. The Australian humour doesn't copy over very well here, though it's not about content but rather the delivery. If you deliver a joke with a "deadpan face" then you'll get no laugh unless the joke is painfully obvious. Period. I'm constantly smiling and decorating my face with hints that my current sentence will be a joke and the muscles around my mouth are starting to hurt. I'm starting to think joking is *too much work* haha. A nice lady on the airplane next to me on Monday from LA to Houston pointed this out, and ever since I've noticed it happening almost 100% of the time. Take time out of your day next time you remember to take note of how much you're smiling the next time you deliver a joke, I'm hoping it's not just me who only smiles for 1 in every 5 jokes! :P

Until next time guys!

Peace,
Kali
