Waking up at the Whispering Pines Campground, I looked up through my Aztek's big rear window and saw crystal blue sky framed by lush green tree branches.  My sleep was deep and long, about 9 uninterrupted hours.  I layed there in the 62 degree air, feeling refreshed and revitalized.  I just knew today would be a good day.

Leaving the campground, I noticed a URE Outfitters sign.  I stopped in. A pleasant New Englander named Mary Beth greeted me and assisted me looking for maps of New England.  The owner, John also helped.  They were so funny and nice.  Spent a lot of time with me and advised that I do the Cliff Walk in Newport.  Got a really funny video as well.

I had to stop at a Dunkin' Donuts to use its WIFI and met a college guy, Ray, working on his computer as well.  Stayed about an hour, uploaded my pictures and headed to Newport.

Crossing the bridges taking me over Jamestown and then Newport, I saw thousands of sailboats of all sizes, from small and simple to magnificent.  Using my I Phone 4, I navigated to the downtown Wharf area and drove to the Cliff Walk.  Met a crusty ex firefighter and ex drinker having a sandwich for lunch.  He gave me the scoop on where it was OK to park and to sleep that night. He recommended the Wal Mart parking lot.  Told me about the Cliff Walk and I was on my way.

Guzzled about a half gallon of water and jogged to the beginning of the walk. With I Phone 4 in hand I took off. The first 2/3 mile was a sidewalk built for those in wheel chairs and for the casual walkers.  I was disappointed, thinking this would be how the entire 3-4 miles would be.  Then it got spectacular.

In my many years of travel, this is one of, if not the most rugged, unspoiled, phenomenally beautiful places I have ever been.  I climbed over the huge boulders, ran on the beach, went though tunnels and climbed hundreds of stairs while seeing some of the worlds greatest views and fantastic homes and gardens.   I had to keep stopping my run to take more and more photos and videos.  I hope my uploads do this place justice.

I met so many great, healthy and adventurous folks along the way including my new Australian, sailing friends.  I did push ups, and triceps exercises while overlooking the vistas.

It was a cool, dry 90 degrees that took its toll.  I was a sweaty mess and still had about 3 miles to get back to my car. I met some friendly locals along the way who were so helpful.

Once at my car, I rehydrated and popped off my mountain bike and decided to check out the town on wheels.  I found a small grocery store that serves up fresh fruits and pineapple chunks.  Wow was that good.  I washed it down with a Monster Khaos energy drink.

Everywhere I went I met the healthiest and friendly people.  Of course there was you share of morbidly obese, cheese doodle eaters, but for the most part, smart, healthy and alive.  Nothing like the majority of Orlandoans.

Bopping from place to place, I took so many great videos of the locals and handed out many of my cards.  I hope all of you stay in touch.  I Found d a great restaurant on the water where the sun would be setting called On The Docks.  I talked with the bartender who then introduced me to the owner Steven Gilbert.  What an interesting character.  He is also the private chef for the owner of one of the mansions that overlook the Cliff Walk.

I found a Newport information area with clean bathrooms.  I drove there and washed up and changed for the nights events.  I talked a long time with the information girl there and then headed off for some food and adventure.  I started with a cold beer at the Sambar and found 4 sweet, fun and pretty girls there with me as the only guy.  They listened to my stories and i got a great video of them.

Had so much fun, I almost missed the sunset.  Got to On The Docks just in time and captured a nice sunset.  Talked with Steven for a while, couldn't figure out why his place wasn't packed while lesser places on the Wharf were hopping.  Maybe I could help promote it.  I know it would be the star of Newport.

Went to another bar, that had all the tourists.  A dude was playing Buffet songs and it was pretty cheesy.  met a great couple there and had a great conversation.  I had my 2 beers and a baby buzz.  Told the wife my philosophies about getting off the hamster wheel and living a stress free life.  She couldn't grasp my concept of the three day romance then splitting.  After three days of excitement, love making and getting to know each other, most times it is best to leave it alone and find new loves and adventures.  We could have debated this for hours but I left after getting a great hug.

I never got to eat my seafood.  Funny thing, after burning a couple thousand calories, I wasn't very hungry.  I ended up at Griswald's and got a plate of beans and rice with hot sauce.  It was delicious and all I wanted.  The server there was so sweet and beautiful  Got a nice video.

Used my GPS finder and drove to the Walmart and found an out of the way parking spot.  Crawled in back and fell asleep withing minutes.  I love sleeping for free in great places.

Am sitting at the Newport Library, using there WIFI and table.  A great library.  Don't know what I will do today. maybe Gloucester MA?
