Frogs kept croaking most of the night, but it was quite relaxing. One was hopping around our tent when we took it down. While we were having breakfast a man drove a horse and cart into the field, did a circuit and left without saying a word. I don't know if it was his field or if he was just curious about us.

As we drove towards Turkey the scenery became more arid. We seemed to get lost a couple of times. This was perhaps because the road signs were in a cyrillic script. The roads were also quite bumpy and my bum became quite numb.

Stopped off in a town to buy bread and then had lunch by the side of the road. It became hotter and hotter. At the border there were clouds of butterflies. I discovered that the Turkish currency has considerably devalued since I was last there. A million lira is now only worth four pounds. A better discovery was that you can now buy cherry juice in a can. Bad news - it's being marketed by Coca Cola. There was a small rain shower after the border. but since then it's been sunshine all the way.

We are now in a campsite outside of Istanbul. It's quite cramped, but it's good to know that we don't have to get up early tomorrow or take the tents down. It was so good to have a shower at last and wash my hair. It was starting to stick out with all the dust in it from three days of rough camps and truck life. There's a little kitten in this campsite that keeps boarding the truck. I haven't seen its mum anywhere.
