Where I stayed
We then drove onto Lands End. Cool to see. Pity about that tacky theme park built at the entrance to it.
We then headed to St Ives-the famous Seaside Artists Colony. It was amazing. Very pretty and sandy-exactly what you imagined the Cornish seaside to be like. Got to have a traditional Cornish pasty-YAY! And it was fantastic! The tide was out so got to walk across the harbour which was great :). Didn't see many artists though-was a little disappointed especially seeing as it is an artists colony? Maybe too late (and cold) in the year?!
We then drove across Bodmin Moor and stopped at the famous Jamaica Inn-the setting of Rebecca De Mornays' book 'Jamaica Inn'. Think I will have to read the book-along with 'Lorna Doone', 'Water Babies' and 'The Hound of the Baskervilles', seeing as I have now been to all the places they were written and set in!
Tonight we had an excursion to Dartmoor for dinner and ghost stories. The bus had problems so they had to get it checked out hence we were very late. But it was nice. Was the place where A.C. Doyle wrote the 'Hound of the Baskervilles'.
Back to the hotel. Opposite the hotel is a bombed out church which was destroyed during WWII and is now a memorial. Looks great all lit up at night. Seems to be a common trend throughout Europe and the UK to have this sort of thing as a memorial. Nice idea.
Really fantastic bunch on this tour. Wish it was a longer tour!!!
