Started the morning with a trip to Wilanow Palace. Very nice and very well kept. Built in the 17th Century by King Jan Sobieski III for his French wife who apparently wanted a Palace like Versailles-hence she was never that happy until things were perfected. So it took a while to complete. LOL.

It had many items stolen by the Nazis and then by the Communists. Some they have managed to get back and some they never have (the Communists claimed them as reparations from the Nazis-even though they were Polish items??? Cheeky).

Went to a park in the city and saw a cool statue of Chopin with a willow tree. Was a really cool statue-so check it out-is worth the visit. Then drove past the 'Crosses' memorial to all the civilians killed during the uprising in WWII. We also stopped off at the site of the Warsaw Ghetto. There is no ghetto left but there is a memorial to those who led and died in the Ghetto uprising and on the other side to the rest of those killed.

Went into the centre of Warsaw which looks old but was completely rebuilt after the war (as was completely destroyed) to look as it did before the war. Was amazing. Had free time but was too sick with a flu and fever so had to go back to the hotel as wanted to rest. And was no way I was missing the Chopin recital tonight.

Later that night we went to a private recital of Chopin at the Summer Palace. Was really great-not too long-just the right length-gave you a nice taster of Chopin-with a nice selection of his music.

Back to the hotel to find our own dinner. Had dinner with the lovely Aussie family and went to a cool noodle/Asian restaurant near the hotel. Was the best food I had had the whole Eastern Europe trip. Was fantastic. Our hotel had a cool 'outside' elevator, so after wards they rode the lift at the hotel and we tried taking photos of them. Silly but fun. :)
