Started the day with a morning tour of the city with a local guide. Fantastic guide-very funny! Had a look at the Palaces, Little Mermaid and the Mer-man etc. The city is great. All the waterways add to the uniqueness of it and make it even more appealing.

In the afternoon we had another excursion-this time to North Zealand-the Danish Riviera. Got to go through ancient fishing villages with their thatched-roofed houses-a lot like the English ones. They don't have sandy beaches so they build their own removable jetties out to a sandbar, so they can step off onto sand. The jetty's can then be taken down in winter so they don't get destroyed in bad weather.

We stopped off at Fredensborg Palace (the Royal Family's summer residence) to see the changing of the guard and to have lunch at the nearby village. Danish pastries rock!!! Yum yum. Then we went on to the 17th Century Frederiksborg Castle with its miniature imitation of the Palace of Versailles' gardens. It was very interesting and a nice Palace.

Had a traditional Danish Christmas dinner at a local danish restaurant. Was quite nice. Then we went to Tivoli Gardens-a 165 year old Theme Park in the city centre. It was AMAZING!!! At night all the old buildings are lit up with lights and the park has lanterns strung across it. There are amazing restaurants in there and bandstands playing all kinds of music. It also has a fairground with games and roller coasters etc. Was very beautiful and had an amazing atmosphere. I am definitely coming back! And I am definitely going on all the rides!!
