It was already more than two years ago that I was in Germany for the first time on a high school exchange program. This amazing experience reaffirmed my decision to study German at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and I have made it my intention to return to Germany ever since.
There has been a lot to consider these last few weeks leading up to my departure, but I don't think the fact that I'm leaving for an entire year will really sink in until I'm actually saying goodbye. Just as hard to believe is how quickly that day is approaching. I'm excited for everything about this opportunity, and it all begins just a few days from now. So until then, auf Wiedersehen!
