Whatever direction you are approaching Durmitor from, be prepared for long hours on curvey and crowded mountain roads. Unless, you opt for a "local road", in which case you will be dodging between holes in the roads, rocks near the road and a 200+m fall off the edge. But the pain is worth it - Tara Canyon that approaches Durmitor from the east - is the Worlds second deepest, reaching 1400m at some stage. The River itself is green - my guess, because of the minerals found in the crust.
If you decide to drive up-up-up to Durmitor, there are excellent hiking paths and a nice plateau with lakes surrounded by different peaks.
We had a stretch of legs and small lunch halfway from the main road to Tara Bridge. Laid down the cloth for the baby to crawl and play, while enjoying some corba and snacks ourselves.
